An important aspect in the work of an Ayurveda specialist is the selection, production, storage, dosing and combination of medicines.

BhaiShajya kalpana is the pharmaceutical department dealing with various types of medicinal preparations, their formulations, dosage etc. described in Ayurveda. It deals with identification, collection, selection of herbs and minerals and preparation of various dosage forms like Avleha, Arishta, Asava powders and tablets. You will learn how to prepare various types of Ayurvedic medicines such as churna, vati, guggulu, asava-arishta, sneha kalpana, avaleha etc.

Introduction. Concept of auShadha and bheShaja. Fundamental principles of bhaiShajya kalpna. Study of Ancient and Contemporary systems of ‘mAna’ (Units of measurement). Rules of measures of dry, fresh, liquid drugs

Fundamental principles of bhaiShajya Kalpana. Rules of acceptability of a substance, about fresh and aged substances. Rules of measures of dry, fresh, liquid drugs) usable and unusable rule for fresh and aged substances. Guidelines and Methods of collection, storage, preservation of auShadhI (medicinal) dravya. Fundamental principles of bhaiShajya Kalpana. Concept of savIryatA avadhi (shelf life) and stability in ancient and contemporary science. bheShaja prayoga vidhi (Posology): auShadha mAtrA (dose), anupAna and sahapAna, and auShadha sevan kAla (substances to be given after or along with the medicine and time of dosage)
